Tour Description
The Hornbill Festival, often known as the “Festival of Festivals,” is Nagaland’s largest cultural event, held yearly from December 1 to 10 at Kisama Heritage Village near Kohima. It brings together all 17 Naga tribes for a spectacular celebration of their music, dance, crafts, food, games, and traditions.
The festival, named after the famed Hornbill bird, which represents courage and mythology in Naga culture, provides a glimpse into this distant northeastern state’s rich legacy. Visitors can see traditional warrior dances, bamboo stilt races, wrestling, culinary sampling, and indigenous fashion shows all in one location.
The Hornbill Festival is more than simply a tourist attraction; it is a living museum of ethnic identity, solidarity, and pride nestled among Nagaland’s verdant hills.
